When choosing to re-engine the pile driver Noord in 2016/2017, De Klerk Werkendam naturally sought a forward-thinking and sustainable application of modern technology. The requirements were to meet the new European emission requirements comfortably, suitable engine power versus low fuel consumption, cleanliness, low noise, within financial budget and being unique & distinctive for clients. We have had a good relationship and collaboration with De Klerk for over 30 years and shared that vision, resulting in a world first Paccar / DAF MX11 Euro 6 road engines used in a maritime environment.

De Klerk explains: "After the successful re-engining and positive results of the heischip Noord, it was only natural to continue this path with Vink diesel and equip various ships in De Klerk's floating fleet with this Stage V technology. In 2018, the work ship IJmeer (2x Paccar MX11) followed, and in 2022 even three ships: crane ship Volkerak (2x Paccar MX13 and 1x MX11), crane ship Merwede (1x Paccar MX11), and heischip Biesbosch (2x Paccar MX13 and 1x MX11). In 2023, heischip Westerschelde was re-engined (2x Paccar MX13), putting De Klerk firmly on course in terms of sustainable development of the floating fleet."
